Paris Jackson shares incredible transformation after five years sober from secret heroin addiction

Paris Jackson has courageously shared her journey with addiction, announcing that she’s been sober for five years now.

At 26, she’s the second child of the late Michael Jackson, who also had two sons, Prince, 27, and Bigi ‘Blanket’ Jackson, 21.

The siblings faced the heartbreaking loss of their father in 2009 when he passed away from a cardiac arrest linked to prescription drug overdose.

Recently, Paris has opened up about her own fight with addiction, celebrating five years free from heroin and alcohol.

She posted a video on Instagram that started with clips from her struggle, transitioning into images of her AA and NA tokens that represent her growing sobriety milestones.

The video concluded with a vibrant, happy Paris, as she reflected on her journey over the past five years in the caption.

She shared: “Hey, I’m PK, and I’ve struggled with alcoholism and heroin addiction.

“Today marks five years of being clean and sober from all substances. Saying I’m thankful feels like an understatement. Gratitude doesn’t even begin to cover it.

“Being sober is why I can smile today. I get to create music, enjoy the love of my dogs and cat, feel heartbreak in all its intensity, grieve, laugh, dance, and trust. I can feel the sun on my skin, and it feels amazing.

“I’ve realized that life goes on whether I’m sober or not, but today I can truly be a part of it.”

Paris added: “Here’s a glimpse of what I’ve been able to experience thanks to my sobriety, and wow, I can’t believe I almost missed out on all of this. Thanks 1 • 7 • 20.”

She gave her fans a look at all the incredible moments she’s been fully engaged in over the last five years, like having fun with friends, meeting a baby bat, walking the red carpet at a Christian Louboutin event during Paris Fashion Week in 2023, rock climbing, and sharing joyful times with her fiancé, music producer Justin Long.

Paris wrapped up her video by expressing her gratitude to her supporters: “To everyone who’s been part of this journey, whether it was just at the start, in the middle, or all the way through, you know who you are, and I owe you everything. Thank you. Five years. THANK GOD.”

Her post received a ton of love, with Paris Hilton saying: “So proud of you, sis.”

Meadow Walker, the daughter of the late Paul Walker, chimed in with: “Incredible P, you’re such a light,” while Cara Delevingne added: “I love you! So proud of you x.”

In addition to discussing her struggles with addiction, Paris had shared with Rolling Stone back in 2017 that some of her tattoos were meant to cover scars from self-harm and marks from drug use.

She also opened up about a suicide attempt in 2013 when she was just 15, sharing: “It was all about self-hatred, low self-esteem, feeling like I couldn’t do anything right, and not believing I was worthy of living anymore.”

The singer shared, “I was out of my mind. Seriously, I was just all over the place. I was dealing with a ton of teenage angst, plus I was struggling with my depression and anxiety all on my own.”
