MrBeast now has more YouTube subscribers than the entire U.S. population

Jimmy Donaldson, better known as MrBeast, just got engaged less than two weeks ago, and there’s even more reason to celebrate for him and his crew.

It’s pretty clear that MrBeast has become a household name in the world of philanthropy and YouTube.

With a staggering 283 million subscribers, he’s now the most successful YouTuber, having overtaken the Indian music channel T-Series.

At just 26, he’s hit over 341 million subscribers on his main channel, which is wild considering that’s roughly the same number of people living in the US according to the Census.

But it hasn’t been a walk in the park. His journey kicked off when he was just 13 back in 2012, mainly focusing on Minecraft and Call of Duty: Black Ops 2.

For the first five years, his channel struggled to gain traction as he tried out different types of content. His big break came in 2017 with a video called ‘Counting to 100,000’.

Believe it or not, he actually counted to 100,000, which took him over 40 hours! Once that video went viral, he realized he had stumbled upon something special, leading him to create two more similar videos: ‘Reading the dictionary for 24 hours’ and ‘Saying Logan Paul 100,000 Times’.

He started reinvesting all the cash he earned from YouTube, thanks to his subscriber count and video views, back into his content.

Before long, he was letting people use his card at Walmart to buy whatever they wanted, and those videos blew up. It just kept growing as he gave away more and more money.

MrBeast realized how popular his money-giving videos were, so he kicked off competitions with massive cash prizes that seemed unreal, along with wild stunts like spending 24 hours trapped underground.

This guy really knows how to play the game.

After the success of his own take on Squid Game, he scored another big deal with Prime Video for what’s being called the ‘largest game show in history.’

Named Beast Games, it’s a high-energy, high-production version of his YouTube show.

In this show, 2,000 contestants battle it out for a whopping $5 million cash prize—the biggest single prize ever in TV and streaming.

Beast Games premiered on Prime Video on December 19, starting with just two episodes, while the rest will roll out weekly.
