Katie has faced health challenges ever since the acid attack in 2008.
Katie Piper recently shared a health update with her followers after a lengthy fight.
The Loose Women panelist and model has been candid about her ongoing health issues over the years.
Since her horrific attack in 2008 by her ex-boyfriend and his accomplice, Katie has taken on the roles of ambassador and activist, and she’s had her fair share of surgeries.
At just 24, her ex, Daniel Lynch, 47, schemed to ruin her looks with acid.
In March of that year, he got Stefan Sylvestre involved, who has since fled the country to escape arrest. This led to the shocking incident where he threw acid on Katie in broad daylight on the street.
Since that day, she has had to go through 400 surgeries to recover from the injuries inflicted.
For those who have been following her story, it’s clear that one of her eyes has been a persistent issue for a while now.
Although Lynch couldn’t take away her beauty—she’s truly gorgeous inside and out—she has faced significant physical damage due to his cruel plan, and her fight is still ongoing.
Katie posted an update yesterday (Friday, December 10) announcing that she will undergo another surgery to protect her left eye with a prosthetic eye shell.
She shared on social media: “After many years of struggling with my eye health, I’ve reached a point where the decision has been made to try a prosthetic eye shell.”
This is the beginning of my journey towards getting an artificial eye, and I’m lucky to have an amazing medical team supporting me. I can’t thank everyone in the NHS and private healthcare enough for their skill and compassion.
I’ll be sharing my experiences along the way. I’m feeling a mix of hope and nerves about how I’ll handle it, so I’d love to hear from anyone who’s been through something similar or has any tips to share in the comments!
I included a photo of myself during the process and a video of my doctor putting in the new eye.
In response to her heartfelt post, followers quickly jumped in to send their well wishes and commend her strength.
One follower commented: “You’re so brave, Katie! I’ve been following your journey since your first documentary, and I get so excited whenever you’re up to something new. Just remember to be kind to yourself!”
One fan chimed in, saying, “Wow, you’ve been such an inspiration to me for years, and you just keep it coming. You’ve got this!”
Remember, at the end of 2023, the presenter opened up about her struggles after a previous eye surgery. In an Instagram video, she shared, “I spent the morning at the eye clinic because I’m having issues with my eye.
“I’ve got a defect and an infection that’s really tough to deal with.”
Fingers crossed that once the prosthetic is done, she can move forward without so many eye troubles.
