Jake Paul experienced a moment of embarrassment following the weigh-in with Mike Tyson last night. The 27-year-old is scheduled to compete against the boxing icon Tyson this evening (November 15) at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
Tyson, who is 31 years Paul’s senior, is anticipated to earn an impressive $20 million from the much-anticipated bout, while Paul is expected to potentially earn up to $40 million.
In the lead-up to the fight, the two have engaged in numerous verbal exchanges, but the weigh-in on November 14 escalated into a physical confrontation when Tyson delivered a slap to Paul’s face.
Tyson weighed in at 16 stone 4 pounds, which is 1 pound heavier than Paul. During their face-off, Paul approached Tyson, only to be met with the unexpected slap.
Following the impact, Paul stumbled backward as security intervened to separate the two fighters. In a display of bravado, Paul blew kisses at the 58-year-old Tyson as he was escorted away.
After the incident, the YouTuber remarked, “I didn’t even feel it. He’s angry. He’s an angry little elf.” He further declared, “Mike Tyson, I thought that was a cute slap, buddy, but tomorrow you’re getting knocked out.” Paul concluded with a more intense statement, asserting, “It’s personal now. Now he’s got to die.”
Many have raised inquiries regarding Tyson’s return to the boxing ring this evening, nearly two decades after his retirement, particularly to compete against an amateur fighter such as Paul.
Although he is poised to receive a substantial financial reward, he has asserted that monetary gain was not a motivating factor in his choice.
